The Knight Masons is an invitational York Rite body that presents degrees
developed in Ireland in the early 1700s. There are three degrees included
in Knight Masonry which are known as “Green Degrees” because
of their Irish origin. Until the mid 1800s they were worked in Irish
Royal Arch Chapters and then in the Commanderies. In 1923 a Grand Council
of Knight Masons was formed in Dublin, Ireland. Knight Masonry came
to the United States in 1936 and today there are approximately ninety
Councils in the United States with approximately 7500 total members.
Degrees worked are:
- Knight of Sword
- Knight of the East
- Knight of the East and West
- Installed Chief (Chair Degree)
